8月24日 THE CONVICTION THAT WE ARE LOVED
What is the meaning of life? This is the kind of question that one considers throughout his life. Scientists say we live to develop the prosperities of our breed. Artists say we live to seek the compassion for our souls. But for most of ordinary people, who are not as considered as scientists, or sensitive as artists, our pursuit is just to be happy. Then comes the question that what is this general sentiment of well-being that we called happiness? Living without worries for bills, and meanwhile, enjoying the entertainment given by arts seems to be an ideal life style. However, to me, this is not happiness, but pleasure instead. Small pleasures can indeed be found in the most simple things as a shared laugh with a friend, or a relaxing cup of tea and good book, but the most fulfilling joy can only come from love, and as the quotation from Hugo, the conviction that we are loved. This conviction is very important because we are not born with the ability to love. On the contrary, love is the subject that we major in throughout our lives. Like all the knowledge we have obtained, we learn it through theory, or rather, through practice. We get confused and doubted on the process of learning, for immature love is always in company with jealousy, conflict and misunderstanding. But the conviction of being loved just brings the peace back to us. So when we are hurt or deeply depressed, hold the conviction that we are loved. We are loved by our dear parents, despite of the generation gap; we are loved by our faithful friends, despite of the different interest; we are loved by our children, despite of their disobedience; we are loved by our soul mates, despite of those unavoidable arguments. This belief simply refreshes us from the uncertainty about life. Moreover, it gives us the courage to love and the confidence to be loved in return, which turns out to be the supreme happiness. ---- A Stranger 引用通告此日志的引用通告 URL 是: http://joicezh.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!C1998B2FDEDBD464!107.trak 引用此项的网络日志
